The
Ellingham & Ringwood Agricultural Society Annual Shows
A wide variety of Light Horse Classes are held attracting entries
from Hunters to Hackers to Arabs and New Forest Ponies with many
of these classes being qualifiers for national competitions. Show
jumping classes are held throughout the day and are a major attraction
to both the general public and the competitor alike.
Heavy Horse displays are always a very popular sight at the show.
Dairy and beef cattle are shown to perfection, to vie for a coveted
Champion Rosette and Sash. Cleaned and combed Rams, Ewes with Lambs
and Goats are at their best with many rare breeds on show The Donkey
show, which is affiliated to the Donkey Breed Society, has classes
for donkeys, from foals to 6 weeks up to veterans of 15 years and
older and it is recognised as one of the finest shows in the South
of England.
Also
extremely popular are the Dogs. You can enter your pet in a variety
of classes from "Most Handsome Pedigree" to "Waggiest
Tail". During the morning you may also enter your pet dog for
the Dog Agility "Just for Fun" Competition.
In the Horticultural Marquee Local people show off their homemade
produce ranging from vegetables and fruit to pot plants and flowers,
many sections having Children Only Classes.
Beautiful floral arrangements under various headings show the versatility
of plants and flowers and the imagination of their designers.
The
Domestic Product Classes always make the mouth water. Delicious
cakes, breads and scones, bake to a high standard and jams and
chutneys to tickle the judge's taste buds, all washed down with
wonderful tasting home made wines.
Handicrafts of many kinds are lovingly displayed to show off Knitting
and sewing techniques, and perhaps lace making or paper crafts
and wooded toys. Photographers and amateur Art Classes in various
mediums are also included.
In and around the Craft Marquee there is a wide diversity of both
Arts and Crafts. Inside exhibitors make and show their own products
whilst outside Rural Crafts are displayed to show methods of production
in the countryside which have been practiced for generations. Whether
you enjoy making or just looking at crafts this is a marquee
not to miss.
As
you make your way around the Show you will come across the Scarecrow
Competition which incorporates many original and unusual designs.
The popular Fancy Dress Competition for four legged and their human
companions in one of many attractions on display in the main ring.
A day out would not be complete without refreshments
which are available in the Ellingham Church Tea Tent or in the ever
popular Beer Tent with may other refreshment outlets around the show
ground offering a wide selection of goodies. The Exclusive Members
Enclosure serves coffee, lunch and afternoon tea and offers a first
class view of the entertainment in the main ring.
